Jason's funny stuff

I taught the kids about the Anti-Nephi-Lehies from the Book of Mormon (anti-weehi-weehies according to Tyler). I told them that they buried their weapons and promised to never kill anyone again. Jason's eyes got big. "Not even bad guys?" he said. I told him nope, not even bad guys. He said "But not even monsters?!"

One night Jason asked if he could sleep on the floor. Since it was a school night I told him he couldn't. He pretended to shoot me with his fingers. I said "Why are you shooting me? I'm not a bad guy or a monster." He said, "Because you won't let me sleep on the floor." I said, "But I'm your mom. Don't you like me?" He considered that for a second then he pointed his "gun" at me and made a sucking noise. "I took it back," he said.

It's Dumbing again!

The other day Tyler brought me a battery-operated toy that was on it's last leg. He was obviously very frustrated and told me "It doesn't work. It's dumb!" I didn't know what was wrong with it, so I turned it back on and handed it back to him. He was ecstatic for three seconds before it turned off again. He started crying and yelled, "Mom! It's dumbing again!!"

Christmastime!!

Yesterday we put up the christmas tree and decked the halls. Laura and Terrence (Jared's cousins) came over for the fun. One of Jared's family traditions is making popcorn and cranberry strings for the tree, which is a real pain, but still fun. I took a video clip on my camera for the first time, and found out it has no sound (lame!). Tyler was making "falling bomb" noises as he pushed the popcorn down on the string, which was really cute, and I thought I'd captured it on video. Alas. After the tree we had hot chocolate and watched How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

Handsome boys

Jared's mom gave the boys some new outfits for church and I had to take pictures and post them because they're so handsome. Joey insisted on posing with the pictures he made in primary.

Typical Jason, shirt untucked.

Typical Tyler, bugged that I'm making him stand still for 2 seconds.

Santa

I never make a huge effort to get the kids to Santa because as excited as they say they are about seeing him, when it comes time to sit with him they usually freak out and cry and refuse to go anywhere near him. At Macey's on Friday they had Santa there and all sorts of fun stuff going on, so I figured if they didn't want to see Santa there was plenty of other stuff to do anyway. Joey and Tyler ran right up to him, Jason wouldn't get out of the shopping cart. Joey asked for a Transformer, of course. Tyler asked for a "Mightning Aqueen". Santa said, confused, "Oh . . . Okay." So I translated: Lightning McQueen.
